Self Definitions
Utopia: A perfect society where nobody has to worry at all.
Dystopia: The opposite of a utopia. Everything that can go wrong will go wrong because of multiple causes. A common one is because of the government.
Dictionary Definitions
Utopia: an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect.
Dystopia: an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic.
Utopias are often very bright and clean. They don't have a lot of contrast in value. They also often have very bright colors, like the Wizard of Oz. Dystopias are usually very grim and bleak. Their color palettes are very dark and dreary. They are often very dark in value.
