Project 13 - Utopia/Dystopia Prework

Lord of the Flies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnCn2VTzY90	The kids live on an island in the middle of the ocean. They don't have to do work and get to play all day.	Eventually, they start hurting and killing each other out of anger and sometimes, just for sport. There is a "monster" that chases the kids.
The Wizard of Oz  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_Ne5g5F-WY	The Land of Oz looks very beautiful and is filled with lots of color. Everyone lives in peace and is helpful to one another.	The farm in Kansas is in all grays and browns. All they do is work and they don't have any fun at all. In Oz, a witch hunts down Dorothy.
Hunger Games https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfmrPu43DF8	People don't really do work in the richer areas. They basically just relax all the time.	Kids have to participate in a killing game for the rich people's entertainment.

Self Definitions

Utopia: A perfect society where nobody has to worry at all.

Dystopia: The opposite of a utopia. Everything that can go wrong will go wrong because of multiple causes. A common one is because of the government.

Dictionary Definitions

Utopia: an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect.

Dystopia: an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic.

Utopias are often very bright and clean. They don't have a lot of contrast in value. They also often have very bright colors, like the Wizard of Oz. Dystopias are usually very grim and bleak. Their color palettes are very dark and dreary. They are often very dark in value.
